Miso Restaurant

They are not very big on quality service but their food is quite lovely. Their edamame is always crunchy and salty. The beef negimaki was spectacular, maybe the best I have had. Their cold dishes really are full of flavor no matter what one orders. I have tried the Udon soups and although the noodles were exceptionally mushy the veggies and broth was comforting and delicious. They have a full sushi bar which is high quality. The fish is definitely fresh here. Plus their tempura is crunchy not at all soggy.

Very few tables for seating and loud when crowded - which is often.

Kid Friendly - not really
No outdoor seating, you're lucky if you get one inside.

al Di La Trattoria

Honestly, I was not that impressed. I am so the minority on this view. We went to the front restaurant and requested a table for two. "One and half hour wait" we were told. Not bad from what I heard about the place. We were instructed to go to the back restaurant to enjoy some wine. It was lovely back there and we did exactly that, enjoyed some wine. About an hour into it we were told that a table was opening in the back and we were welcome to take it. We did, reluctantly, (I really wanted to know what all the hoop-la was about in the front)

The wine we ordered by he glass was very oaky and had lots of tanins. But I then ordered a lovely bottle of D'oro and was surprised how easily the bottle went down. I had saltin-bocca that was dry, flat flavored and tough. My husband had the pork shank that was obscenely huge for one person and should have been presented for two people.

Desserts were absolutely incredible- for the other side of the coin.  Ricotta fritters - crazy good!

I will have to go back, maybe it was a bad evening.

Kid friendly - not really - older kids preferred.

Brooklyn Flipsters

OMG!! Love it! This is such a great improvement from the last place that lived there. The burgers are juicy and have fresh ingredients to accompany it. We ordered a bacon burger and to our delight the bacon was crispy! The chicken wings have the best hot wing sauce i have had in BK. The veggie burger was excellent, crunchy crust with flavorful ingredients Delivery was fast and the waitstaff is friendly. Nicely priced for families.

Kid friendly - VERY!

I love this place! It's got a great concept and good hot dogs. The only problem I have with it is my children do not like the hot dogs. They have skin on them and it is not what they want. I would love to know if other children like them. They are as kind as they could be and just very accomodating to everyone that comes in. Inexpensive.

Kid friendly - YES!

Blue Ribbon

I have loved this place since the first one that opened in the city - years ago. I have spent many an hour at this restaurant on Sullivan Street. Which is why I was so excited when I moved to breed in Brooklyn and saw my favorite haunt. Just to relive the ole days with kids and the same good food was a prize. And it's all still delish! I did get food poisening here the first time but I braved it again for old time sake and it has been consistently good.

Kid friendly - Yeah, maybe - there are a lot there early.

7th Avenue Donut Shop

One of the best places in Park Slope to get a fresh donut. Adequate diner food - really one of the best for the donuts. The waitstaff is so sweet they give away donuts to customers at the end of the shift. They are open 24 hours and deliver!

Big Trout

We had a late lunch here and the food was fabulous. My friend had pulled pork sandwich, which had the right amount of spice and pork and large enough portion to save for dinner. The bread was garden variety soft italian bread but worked well. The coleslaw was
crunchy and fresh but not enough of it. I had the Catfish Po'Boy - it had big juicy pieces of perfectly fried catfish served with a dill pickle, lettuce, tomato and this great mustard! Added bonus was some hush puppies - yum.

We happened to be there during happy hour and we had half price beers and half price chili cheese fries to start. Good place to hang and chill.

Very kid-friendly in the early hours.
